Synopsis – What to Expect from “Almost Heroes”
Almost Heroes is a 1998 American adventure comedy film directed by Christopher Guest and starring Chris Farley and Matthew Perry. It follows two explorers, Bartholomew Hunt (Farley) and Leslie Edwards (Perry), as they embark on a mission to beat Lewis and Clark to the Pacific Ocean.
The film begins with Bartholomew Hunt and Leslie Edwards, two bumbling explorers, setting out from St. Louis in 1804 on their mission to beat Lewis and Clark to the Pacific Ocean. They soon run into trouble when they are attacked by a Native American tribe and their boat is destroyed. Determined to continue their journey, they decide to travel on foot and enlist the help of a Native American guide, Running Bird (Eugene Levy).
The group soon encounters a variety of obstacles, including a giant grizzly bear, a raging river, and a group of French fur trappers led by the villainous Jacques LaRue (Bruno Kirby). Despite their misfortunes, they eventually make it to the Pacific Ocean, only to find that Lewis and Clark have already beaten them there.
Undeterred, Hunt and Edwards decide to continue their journey and search for the legendary Lost City of Gold. Along the way, they must battle an army of Spanish conquistadors, a band of angry pirates, and a giant sea monster. In the end, they find the Lost City of Gold and become famous heroes.
