Synopsis – What to Expect from “Almost Friends”
Almost Friends is a 2017 romantic comedy-drama about two best friends, Amber and Ben, who have been inseparable since childhood.
The story begins with Amber and Ben’s first day of college. While Amber is eager to start a new chapter in her life, Ben is content to stay in their small hometown and work in his father’s auto shop. Despite their differences, the two remain close friends.
Amber quickly falls in love with her new college professor, Kyle, who is much older than her. Ben is supportive of their relationship, but he can’t help but feel jealous of Kyle. As Amber and Kyle’s relationship progresses, Ben’s feelings for Amber become increasingly strong.
In an effort to make Amber happy, Ben encourages her to pursue her dreams of becoming a doctor. He even takes a job at the same hospital where Amber is interning. But when Amber discovers Ben’s true feelings, she is forced to choose between Ben and Kyle.
The film follows Amber and Ben as they struggle to navigate their complicated relationship. Along the way, they must confront their own insecurities and fears, as well as the pressure of their families and peers. In the end, they must decide if their friendship is strong enough to endure the changes that come with growing up.
