Synopsis/Plot
Airport is a 1970 American disaster-drama film directed and produced by George Seaton and distributed by Universal Pictures. It is an adaptation of Arthur Hailey’s 1968 novel of the same name. The film stars Burt Lancaster, Dean Martin, Jean Seberg, George Kennedy, Jacqueline Bisset, and Helen Hayes. The film follows a snowstorm at Lincoln International Airport that causes massive delays and the efforts of the airport staff to keep the planes in the air.
The film begins with a snowstorm at Lincoln International Airport in Chicago. Mel Bakersfeld (Burt Lancaster) is the airport’s head of operations, and he is in charge of keeping the airport running smoothly. Meanwhile, his wife, Tanya (Jean Seberg), is dealing with a personal crisis. Meanwhile, a mysterious passenger, D.O. Guerrero (Dean Martin), is causing trouble on board a flight from Rome. He is eventually revealed to be a bomber, and he has planted a bomb on board the plane.
