After She Wakes is a 2019 drama-thriller about a young woman’s struggle to come to terms with a traumatic past and the mysterious disappearance of her best friend.
The story follows 19-year-old Emma (Sophie Lowe) as she attempts to rebuild her life after a traumatic experience. Emma is struggling to cope with the sudden disappearance of her best friend, Sarah, who vanished without a trace. Emma is tormented by recurring nightmares and visions of Sarah, and she begins to question her own sanity.
When her psychiatrist suggests hypnotherapy as a way to confront her fears, Emma reluctantly agrees. During her session, Emma is taken back to a traumatic childhood memory that she had long since forgotten. She is then transported to a strange world where she is confronted by her own inner demons.
