After Hours is a 1985 American black comedy film directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Joseph Minion. The film stars Griffin Dunne as Paul Hackett, a meek word processor who is thrust into a nightmarish adventure when he ventures into New York City’s SoHo district to visit an attractive woman he has met in an online chatroom.
The film begins with Paul Hackett (Griffin Dunne) as a meek word processor in Manhattan. One night, he meets Marcy Franklin (Rosanna Arquette) in a chatroom and decides to meet her in person. Paul takes a cab to her SoHo apartment, but when he arrives, he finds out that Marcy has gone out and left the door open. Paul takes this as an invitation to wait for her, but soon finds himself in a surreal and dangerous situation.
Paul is soon accosted by a strange, menacing bartender (Cheech Marin) and a group of eccentric and dangerous characters. He is then chased by a gang of thugs led by Kiki Bridges (Linda Fiorentino). As the night progresses, Paul finds himself in a variety of strange and dangerous situations, including a wild party, a street fight, a mugging, and a visit to a punk club.
Throughout the night, Paul is pursued by Kiki and her gang, who are determined to get their hands on the money Paul has in his pocket. As the night wears
