Synopsis – What to Expect from “Accidental Love”
Accidental Love is a romantic comedy directed by David O. Russell and released in 2015.
Alice (Jessica Biel), a small-town waitress, is accidentally shot in the head by a nail gun while on a date with her boyfriend, Scott (James Marsden). As a result, Alice’s personality changes drastically and she develops a strange, child-like demeanor. She is sent to a mental hospital where she meets Dr. Pratt (Jake Gyllenhaal), a psychiatrist who specializes in treating patients with unusual mental disorders.
Alice and Dr. Pratt soon develop a connection and he helps her to cope with her condition. Alice’s life begins to take a turn for the better as she starts to make progress in her recovery. She even begins to fall in love with Dr. Pratt.
However, Alice’s newfound happiness is threatened when the hospital is threatened with closure due to budget cuts. Alice and Dr. Pratt must fight to keep the hospital open and their love alive.
The film follows Alice and Dr. Pratt as they battle bureaucracy, prejudice, and their own inner demons in order to keep the hospital open and their love alive. Along the way, they must also deal with the various obstacles life throws at them, all while trying to find a way to make their relationship work.
