Synopsis – What to Expect from “A Simple Plan”
A Simple Plan is a 1998 American neo-noir crime thriller film directed by Sam Raimi and starring Bill Paxton, Billy Bob Thornton, Bridget Fonda, and Brent Briscoe.
The story follows two brothers, Hank and Jacob Mitchell (Paxton and Thornton), who find a crashed plane in the woods near their rural Minnesota home. Inside the plane is a dead pilot and a bag filled with $4.4 million in cash. The brothers decide to keep the money and not tell anyone about it, believing it will solve all their problems.
Hank, the older and more responsible brother, is initially against the plan, but Jacob convinces him that it is their only chance at a better life. Hank reluctantly agrees, and the two brothers begin to plan how they will hide the money and keep their secret.
They enlist the help of their friend Lou (Briscoe), and the three of them bury the money in the woods. Hank also begins to date Sarah (Fonda), a local woman whom he has had a crush on for years.
As the weeks go by, however, the brothers begin to realize that their simple plan is not so simple after all. They must constantly be on alert for anyone who might be looking for the money, and Hank’s relationship with Sarah becomes strained as he struggles to keep their secret.
