Synopsis/Plot
A Royal Night Out is a 2015 British romantic comedy-drama film directed by Julian Jarrold and written by Trevor de Silva and Kevin Hood. The film stars Sarah Gadon, Bel Powley, Rupert Everett, Emily Watson, and Jack Reynor.
The film follows the story of two young princesses, Elizabeth (Sarah Gadon) and Margaret (Bel Powley), who are allowed to leave the confines of Buckingham Palace for one night to join in the VE Day celebrations in 1945. The two young women, who are just teenagers at the time, decide to escape their royal duties and explore London for the night.
The two princesses embark on a wild night of adventure, meeting a variety of characters along the way. They encounter a soldier (Jack Reynor) who is eager to show them a good time, a kind-hearted working-class family, and a mysterious stranger (Rupert Everett) who has a hidden agenda. As the night progresses, the two young women must confront the realities of life outside of the palace walls and make some difficult decisions about their future.
