Synopsis/Plot
A Prayer Before Dawn is a 2018 biographical drama film directed by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire. The film stars Joe Cole as Billy Moore, a British boxer who is incarcerated in Thailand’s most notorious prison. The film is based on the real-life experiences of Moore, who wrote about his experiences in his autobiography A Prayer Before Dawn: A Nightmare in Thailand.
The film begins with Billy Moore, a British boxer from Manchester, being arrested in Thailand and sentenced to three years in prison. He is thrown into a world of drugs, violence, and corruption, where he is forced to fight for survival. Billy soon finds himself in the middle of a brutal prison gang war and must fight to stay alive.
In order to survive, Billy must learn to fight in Muay Thai boxing matches. With the help of an older inmate, he begins to train and compete in the matches, slowly gaining respect from the other inmates. He soon finds himself in the spotlight as he becomes the prison’s Muay Thai champion.
