Synopsis – What to Expect from “A Kiss Before Dying”
A Kiss Before Dying is a 1991 American crime thriller film directed by James Dearden and starring Matt Dillon, Sean Young, Max von Sydow, and Diane Ladd. It is based on the 1953 novel of the same name by Ira Levin.
The movie follows Bud Corliss (Matt Dillon), a charming and ambitious young man who will do whatever it takes to get ahead in life. He meets the wealthy and beautiful Dorothy Kingship (Sean Young), and the two quickly fall in love. But when Dorothy becomes pregnant, Bud realizes that her powerful father, industrialist J.C. Kingship (Max von Sydow), will never approve of their relationship.
Desperate to get rid of Dorothy and her unborn child, Bud devises a plan to murder her. He lures her to a deserted cabin in the woods and pushes her off a cliff. But when the police arrive, they find that Dorothy is still alive. Bud is arrested and sentenced to death for attempted murder, but he manages to escape and goes on the run.
Dorothy survives the fall and is determined to bring Bud to justice. With the help of her father and her investigative journalist friend Ellen (Diane Ladd), she sets out to track him down. But as they get closer to Bud, they realize that he is a dangerous and ruthless killer who will stop at nothing to get what he wants.
