Synopsis – What to Expect from “A Hologram for the King”
A Hologram for the King is a 2016 comedy-drama film directed by Tom Tykwer and starring Tom Hanks. The film follows Alan Clay, a washed-up American businessman, who travels to Saudi Arabia to pitch a cutting-edge technology to the Saudi King.
The story begins with Alan Clay, a struggling businessman who has been laid off from his job and is struggling to make ends meet. He is offered a chance to travel to Saudi Arabia to pitch a holographic teleconferencing system to the King. Alan reluctantly takes the job, hoping to make enough money to get back on his feet.
When he arrives in Saudi Arabia, Alan finds himself in a strange new world. He is welcomed by Yousef, a young Saudi driver who helps him find his way. As Alan adjusts to the culture, he meets Zahra, a beautiful Saudi doctor who helps him understand the local customs.
At the King’s palace, Alan is taken aback by the grandeur of the place, and is intimidated by the King’s advisors. He is surprised to find that the King is a young man, and not the elderly ruler he was expecting. Despite his initial misgivings, Alan’s presentation is a success and he is asked to stay in the palace.
As Alan spends more time in Saudi Arabia, he begins to appreciate the beauty of the country and its people. He also starts to develop feelings for Zahra,
