Synopsis/Plot
A Dangerous Method is a 2011 historical drama film directed by David Cronenberg and starring Viggo Mortensen, Keira Knightley, and Michael Fassbender.
The film is set in the early 1900s and follows the relationship between psychiatrist Carl Jung (Fassbender) and his mentor, Sigmund Freud (Mortensen). The two men are pioneers in the field of psychoanalysis, and their relationship is challenged by the arrival of Sabina Spielrein (Knightley), a young Russian woman seeking help from Jung. As Jung begins to treat her, he discovers that she has a deep and passionate connection to him, one that threatens his relationship with Freud and puts him at odds with the strictures of the psychiatric community.
The film follows Jung and Sabina’s tumultuous relationship, as they both struggle to find the balance between their professional and personal lives. As Jung’s methods become more and more daring, he and Sabina both find themselves in a dangerous game of psychological exploration, pushing the boundaries of their own understanding of the human psyche.
