Synopsis/Plot
A Countess from Hong Kong is a 1967 romantic comedy film directed by Charlie Chaplin. The film stars Marlon Brando, Sophia Loren, Sydney Chaplin, and Tippi Hedren.
The film follows the story of an American diplomat, Ogden Mears (Marlon Brando), who finds himself in the company of a stowaway countess, Natascha (Sophia Loren), from Hong Kong. As the two share a series of romantic adventures, Ogden finds himself increasingly enchanted by the mysterious woman.
The story begins with Ogden and his assistant, Rupert (Sydney Chaplin), arriving in Hong Kong. They are there to attend a conference, but Ogden quickly becomes bored and decides to take a cruise. However, unbeknownst to him, Natascha has stowed away on the ship in order to escape her arranged marriage.
When Ogden discovers Natascha, he is initially furious but eventually comes to sympathize with her plight and decides to help her. As the two spend time together, they fall in love and Ogden proposes marriage. However, Rupert’s girlfriend, Miss Jenkins (Tippi Hedren), is also on the ship
