Synopsis/Plot
90 Minutes in Heaven is a 2015 American drama film directed by Michael Polish and based on the 2004 best-selling book of the same name by Don Piper. The film stars Hayden Christensen as Don Piper, a Baptist minister who is involved in a car accident and is declared dead for 90 minutes before being revived. The film follows Don’s recovery as he struggles to come to terms with his near-death experience and the newfound attention he receives from his congregation and the media.
The film begins with Don (Christensen) on his way home from a conference when his car is struck head-on by a semi-truck. Don is declared dead at the scene but miraculously, he is brought back to life 90 minutes later. Don soon begins to experience physical and mental changes as a result of his near-death experience, including vivid visions of Heaven.
Don’s recovery is slow and painful, and he is forced to rely on the support of his wife Eva (Kate Bosworth) and his church family. As Don’s story begins to spread, he finds himself in the middle of a media frenzy as people from all over the world come to hear his story.
