Synopsis – What to Expect from “24: Redemption”
24: Redemption is a 2008 television movie set between the sixth and seventh seasons of the Fox television series 24. The film follows Jack Bauer as he works to stop a military coup in the fictional African nation of Sangala.
The film begins with Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) in a rural area of Sangala, a fictional country in Africa. He is there with his friend Carl Benton (Robert Carlyle) to help an orphanage run by a missionary, Carl’s daughter, and a group of children. As Jack and Carl are about to leave, a group of rebel soldiers led by Colonel Dubaku (Hakeem Kae-Kazim) arrive and demand the children be handed over to them. Jack and Carl refuse and a shootout ensues, with Jack and Carl escaping with the children.
Jack then takes the children to the U.S. Embassy in Sangala, where he and the ambassador, Richard Walsh (Cherry Jones), attempt to get the children out of the country. However, they are blocked by Dubaku’s forces, and the embassy is soon under siege. Meanwhile, President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) is dealing with the situation in Sangala from the White House. She is informed that Dubaku has been working with a group of mercenaries and arms dealers to stage a military coup.
Jack and Walsh manage to get the children out of the embassy, but Dubaku’s forces are still in pursuit. Jack
