Dale takes pity on Helga and helps her to escape, but Ray follows them and shoots Dale.
Meanwhile, a successful television producer, Becky (Marsha Mason), is having an affair with a young artist, Teddy (James Spader). When Teddy discovers that Becky is married, he breaks off the relationship and decides to move to San Francisco.
