Synopsis – What to Expect from “1492: Conquest of Paradise”
1492: Conquest of Paradise is a 1992 epic historical drama film directed by Ridley Scott and written by Roselyne Bosch. The film stars Gérard Depardieu, Armand Assante, Sigourney Weaver, Loren Dean, and Ángela Molina.
The film tells the story of Christopher Columbus’s (Depardieu) voyage to the New World in 1492. After being rejected by the Spanish court, Columbus is given a chance to prove himself by convincing the Spanish court to fund his voyage. He sets sail with a crew of Spanish sailors and adventurers, and soon discovers the beauty and potential of the New World.
Once in the New World, Columbus is met with resistance from the native people, who are suspicious of his intentions. Columbus and his crew must battle the elements and the natives in order to establish a settlement. In the process, they encounter a variety of cultures and customs, and must learn to adapt in order to survive.
The film also explores the personal struggles and relationships of the crew members, as they struggle to survive in an unknown land. In the end, Columbus and his crew are able to establish a settlement and prove to the Spanish court that the New World is worth exploring. The film ends with Columbus returning to Spain with news of his successful voyage.
