Synopsis – What to Expect from “12 and Holding”
12 and Holding is a 2006 drama film that follows the lives of three pre-teens as they navigate the difficult transition from childhood to adolescence.
The story focuses on Rudy, a 12-year-old boy whose parents are going through a difficult divorce. In order to cope with the changes in his life, Rudy begins to act out in school and at home. His behavior causes him to become isolated from his peers and family.
Meanwhile, Rudy’s twin sister, Jacoba, is struggling to come to terms with the death of her best friend, Mary. Mary’s death has left Jacoba feeling numb and unable to connect with anyone.
The third protagonist is Malee, a girl who is dealing with her own set of issues. Malee is being raised by a single father who is struggling to make ends meet. Malee’s father is also dealing with his own emotional issues, which causes Malee to feel neglected and isolated.
The three children are all struggling to make sense of their lives and find a way to cope with their individual issues. As they try to make sense of their lives, they are forced to confront their own inner demons and fears.
The movie follows the three children as they attempt to come to terms with their problems and find a way to move forward. Along the way, they learn about the importance of friendship, family, and understanding. In the end, they all learn to accept their differences and find a way
