NPD DisplaySearch today announced Walmart.com has been added to its US FPD Smart Devices Conference line-up. Walmart.com Senior Director of Electronics, Media and Wireless, Terrance Oliver, will join Stephen Baker, Vice President of Industry Analysis at The NPD Group, for a discussion about planning, marketing, and selling smart devices.
During the one-on-one session Oliver and Baker will address retailer opportunities for selling smart devices, how the approach to selling smart devices differs online and in-store, and explore some of the business models for selling smart devices and content from a retail point-of-view.
“Mr. Oliver and Mr. Baker are invaluable additions to our speaker line-up for this year’s US FPD Smart Devices Conference,” said Paul Semenza, senior vice president, NPD DisplaySearch. “Their insight and knowledge of technology retailing will complement the sessions on devices, operating platforms, consumer behavior, and business models.”
“With devices becoming smarter, the way we sell and market these devices needs to become smarter as well,” said Stephen Baker, vice president of industry analysis at NPD. “As the market expands, retailers, device companies, and content makers need to provide a collaborative and compelling rationale for the mainstream consumer to prefer that all of their devices are smart.”
Terrance Oliver is the Senior Director of Electronics, Media and Wireless at Walmart.com. His tenure in the electronics industry, which includes several roles at Walmart.com as well as a Buyer role at Fry’s, spans across all major consumer device categories, and his experience offers a look at the industry through the coveted retailer lens. His role challenges him to balance both cutting edge and mainstream technology trends, with the end goal of helping his customers to save money and live better.
The session; A conversation with Walmart.com, is scheduled for March 19 at 2:30pm.
