Yes Posterous fans, you heard right. You have been acquired, well, the Posterous platform at least has been by your favorite follower, Twitter.
In a post on Posterous today by Sachin Agarwal, the founder and CEO, he has stated that “Posterous Spaces will remain up and running without disruption. We’ll give users ample notice if we make any changes to the service. For users who would like to back up their content or move to another service, we’ll share clear instructions for doing so in the coming weeks.” which could give some indication that the startup was a short one.
With many users of the service sounding off on the comment board, many were outspoken and unhappy as they seemed to be recent migrants to the platform from other services.
A FAQ page has been setup for further questions regarding the sudden news, and can be found here for those attempting to learn more.
As a sound off, the post ended with “Finally, we’d like to offer thanks to all of our users, especially those who have been with Posterous since day one. The last four years have been an amazing journey. Your encouragement, praise and criticism have made us better. Thanks for that. We look forward to building great things for you over at Twitter.” stated Agarwal.
So what is your take? Will Posterous stick around or was this the nail in the coffin?
