Verizon is claiming that they have the Samsung Galaxy Nexus exclusively at Verizon Wireless, which as we know is not correct. The latest Nexus phone is the latest version of Google’s line of phones and Samsung is providing this one as the Galaxy Nexus, though for a time, it was thought to be the Nexus Prime. This one will be running Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), the latest version as Android 4.0 and it has a number of great new features in the OS making it desirable for those who love the Android OS.
Finding the sign up page is not where you would expect to see it. I had to search for the word Nexus on their site and in the results returned I saw the graphic which you see below. When you click on the “Learn More” button, you are taken to the email sign up page where you will be getting more information as it becomes available.

As for Verizon having an exclusive, we previously reported that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was coming to 7 US wireless carriers last week based on what we observed over at Samsung’s web site. That has not changed and you can check out the Samsung Galaxy Nexus page for yourself and see that the drop down list for the US contains 7 wireless carriers. So, we are not exactly sure what Verizon Wireless means by “exclusive” right now. Maybe it is because they are the only US carrier taking email sign ups and will be the first to sell it for a time.
Once you have signed up, you get an email saying Thanks for signing up and that is it. There are no details in the email, no links to see information about the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, nothing of value. This is starting to look like a marketing ploy to try and generate interest in the Nexus coming to Verizon Wireless next month.
In other news on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, there are reports that the phone will not be getting the expected Gorilla Glass for the phone face, which is manufactured by Corning. They have confirmed they are not supplying that to Samsung and Samsung has confirmed the same. It looks like they are going to be using some new fortified glass facing for the phones. More information is sure to follow on this for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
Watch for more news coming on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus from Verizon and other carriers in the coming weeks.
